Chad Feehan Leaves Dutton Ranch

Dutton Ranch: Showrunner “Chad Feehan” Out of the Show 3 Weeks Before the Premiere

It looks like the Dutton Ranch creators will have to look for a new showrunner as Chad Feehan will not be returning after Season 1. Chad Feehan was the creator and executive producer of the Yellowstone spinoff along with Taylor Sheridan. It is set to make its debut Friday, on May 15th. If the show gets a nod from Paramount+ for another season, it will be helmed by another showrunner.

The spinoff follows the end of the popular Western drama “Yellowstone.” It will follow the two of its main characters Rip Wheeler (played by Cole Hauser) and Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reily) as they begin a new life in Texas.

The flagship show “Yellowstone” ended its five season run in December 2024.

According to the official synopsis- as Rip and Beth both fight to create their future together, far from the ghosts of Yellowstone, they face brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will do everything in its power to secure its empire. In South Texas, “forgiveness is fleeting, blood runs deeper, and the cost of survival might be your soul.”

Apart from Hauser and Reily, Finn Little returns as Carter, who was introduced first in the season 4 of Yellowstone. Annette Benning will also star on the show as Beulah Jackson. She is described as a “cunning,” “powerful,” and “charming” head of a major ranch in Texas.

The cast ensemble also includes Jai Courtney, Ed Harris, Natalie Alyn Lynd, J.R. Villareal, and Juan Pable Raba.

In March, the producer of the Yellowstone “David Glasser” opened up about Dutton Ranch. He explained that the spinoff is not only a good opportunity to explore the characters but also mature them.

Dutton Ranch will be the second time Feehan and Sheridan have worked together. In 2023, Feehan had previously created the Western show “Lawmen: Boss Reeves” on Paramount+. Sheridan was the executive producer of the show.

Reportedly, Feehan had some issues with the stars of the series “Kelly Reilly” and “Cole Hauser.” He was also disappointed with the creators of the show, David Glasser and Taylor Sheridon. Reports also suggest that creators were also not satisfied with the way Fahan was managing the show and it did not meet their expectations. All of this led to his departure before the second season of the show was produced.
