The creators of the highly anticipated sitcom miniseries “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair” reportedly went big to convince Eric Per Sullivan to come out of retirement. However, it was not enough as he will not be returning for the revival as he remains focused on studying literature at Harvard.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, star of the sitcom Jane Kaczamarek, who is returning for the revival, revealed that the young man was offered “buckets of money” to join the cast for revival. “No thank you,” was his response.
Eric Per Sullivan, who retired from acting back in 2010 to focus on his studies, will be the only cast member who will not be returning. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will be replacing him in the four-episode revival which is set to premiere in April 10th, 2026 on Hulu and Disney+.
The title of the revival is inspired by the theme song of the original series. It will follow Malcolm as he is forced back into his family when Lois (played by Jane Kaczamarek) and Hal (played by Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston) command his presence at their 40th anniversary.
The trailer of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair was released on 29th December, 2025. It confirmed the return of Frankie Muniz as Malcolm. Cranston and Kaczmarek are playing the role of parents while Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield are playing the role of Malcolm’s siblings, Francis and Reese respectively. Emy Coligado is also returning as Francis’s wife, Piama. Life’s Still Unfair will also introduce Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae as youngest siblings Jamie and Kelly. In the original series, Jamie was seen as a toddler while Kelly will make her first appearance in the revival series.
Watch Life’s Still Unfair on Hulu and Disney+ in United States and on Disney+ internationally on April 10th, 2026.
