Bullseye in Daredevil Born Again

Daredevil Born Again Season 2: Why Is Bullseye MCU’s Best Ever Villain?

The Phase 6 of Marvel Cinematic Universe has revealed a new villain and all courtesy of its highly-rated street-level TV show “Daredevil: Born Again.” Just like the Netflix show, the scope of Daredevil is small and the majority of the story takes place in New York. However, even with limiting itself to street-level issues, it has managed to conjure one of the MCU villains Marvel fans have ever seen, Bullseye and Kingpin.

It was not as if the Multiverse Saga was lacking villains. From Kang The Conqueror to Vallentina Allegra de Fontaine, every villain showed some potential. However, either they have been used inconsistency or they lack the “fear” factor that can cause tension on the screen. Though Kang showed some potential, his storyline had to be set aside due to Jonathan Majors’ criminal proceedings for which he was dropped from Marvel.

The audience needs villains who can challenge superheroes and create tensions in the plot. And, finally, Marvel has an answer. Benjamin Pointdexter, also known as Bullseye, is a stand out villain that Marvel love watching on screen.

Why Is Bullseye the Best Villain in Marvel’s Multiverse Saga?

Benjamin Pointdexter is played by Wilson Bethel, who reprises his role from the Netflix series. He was one of the highlights of Daredevil season 3 where Bullseye’s exceptional combat abilities (anything in his hand is a weapon) and Bethel’s acting skills kept the audience hooked on the screen. Bullseye was a no match for anyone on the show except Kingpin and Matt Murdock who had to combine to take him down in the finale.

He returned menacingly in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, killing Foggy Nelson in the first few minutes of the season, making Matt Murdock forget his moral code, and setting the tone for the entire reboot. Though he was not working on his own will but rather on the orders of Vanessa Fisk, his rampage in the first few minutes made the audience remember why he is a fearful villain.

Now, he is out of jail in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and frankly, he has been one of the spotlights of the season so far. Courtesy of his erratic behavior, exceptional aim, and twisted views on justice, he steals the show every time he is on screen. There is more to come. Episode 4 ended on a cliffhanger and we do not know how successful he was in doing what he set out to do (No spoilers!). But one thing is for sure. He has made Kingpin his sworn enemy. It is going to be an on-screen bloodbath! The audience should be seated.

Will Bullseye Join the Thunderbolts?

It is not completely out of question and will be sort of comic book accurate as Bullseye did join Thunderbolts/Avengers as Hawkeye. During Marvel’s Civil War run, Bullseye was part of the Thunderbolts with the team overseen by the Pro-Registration side through nanites. They forced them to work as enforcers sanctioned by the government. Similarly, after the events of Secret Invasion, Bullseye joined the dark avengers led by Norman Osborn, becoming Hawkeye once again.

While it should be said that this was a short time period with Bullseye still having darker tendencies, it cannot be discarded that Marvel is taking inspiration from the same storyline.

Marvel has also given a few hints with the mention of Valentina De Allegra Fontaine in the first episode and himself suggesting he is “one of the good guys” to a terrified civilian while taking out the Task Force at a diner in Queens using silverware, toothpicks, a meat thermometer, and crab claw.

However, Marvel has not confirmed anything yet and we will get more clarity by the end of the season. But, since the shooting of season 3 has already begun, it is safe to say that Marvel does have something planned out for every character.

So, Is Bullseye the Best Villain?

If you ask Premiere Insider, then Bullseye has to be one of the top villains of the MCU if not the best villain of MCU. Though he is currently only street-level, he has potential to give heroes like Daredevil, Karen Page, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist a run for their money.

There is one more villain lurking around the corner though…Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. We do not know much about him but Avengers: Doomsday is one of the most highly-anticipated film of 2026. The first official trailer is about to release soon. In the comics, Doctor Doom is a force to reckon with and fans eager to see Robert Downey Jr. take on the character.

But for now, fans can watch Bullseye terrify Kingpin and his Anti Vigilante Taskforce in Daredevil Born Again: Season 2. Watch a new episode every Tuesday on Disney+!
